Louisiana Integrated Resource Plan (IRP)
Entergy Louisiana and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana are committed to providing their customers with reliable service at the lowest reasonable cost. Resource planning is an important process the Companies employ to help them achieve that goal. Resource planning takes into account estimates of customers’ future energy needs and the resources available to serve those needs.
For many years, the Companies have developed resource plans to assist in deciding how to serve their customers. In 2007, the Louisiana Public Service Commission opened a rulemaking process to study the feasibility of uniform resource planning rules for all jurisdictional utilities. ELL and EGSL actively participated in the rulemaking, which resulted in the issuance of a Commission General Order and Integrated Resource Planning rules in April 2012.
ELL and EGSL initiated their IRP process with a letter to the LPSC on October 21, 2013, in accordance with the IRP rules. Under the current LPSC timeline, IRP reports are due to be filed August 3, 2015. The Companies, with input from other stakeholders, have begun work to develop their IRPs in accordance with the LPSC’s process and rules.
