Day-long conference to promote statewide economic development
Baton Rouge, La. – As Louisiana’s two
largest electric utility companies, Entergy Louisiana, LLC and Entergy Gulf
States Louisiana, L.L.C. are known for providing customers with electricity. In
addition to delivering electricity, however, the two companies also work toward
creating jobs and spurring economic development across Louisiana.
For the 21st year, the two companies
will team up to host the Teamwork Louisiana economic development conference.
This year’s event is set for Oct. 14 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge.
Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. while the conference concludes with
an awards dinner beginning at 7 p.m. Additional information on the conference

The Teamwork Louisiana conference is
the state’s largest economic development conference and offers parish and city
officials from across the state a networking opportunity designed to stimulate
business and industry in their communities. The conference brings together
community leaders and officials from industry and government to trade ideas in
an effort to learn news ways to attract businesses and promote economic
development.
“Even though the name has changed,
the Teamwork Louisiana conference retains the same goal of growing and promoting
business across Louisiana,” said Renae Conley, president and CEO of Entergy
Louisiana, LLC and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C. “The conference is an
important part of our efforts to attract new jobs and to help grow local
economies. Bringing together community leaders, businesses and government
officials gives us a great opportunity to make a difference in communities
across the state.”
Speakers at the conference include
Mike Strain, commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and
Forestry, Jubal Smith, director of site location, credits and incentives at
PricewaterhouseCoopers and Dr. Lucian Conway, president of Conway Consulting.
The event starts with a demonstration
of the Louisiana Site Selection Center Web site that will also provide training
to those interested in using the new site. A panel discussion will feature
mayors and community leaders who will share their success stories in creating
economic development in their communities.
Entergy’s Teamwork Louisiana
conference typically attracts the largest group of community developers and
local and parish officials of any economic development conference in the state.
Attendees network, set up economic development exhibits and attend educational
sessions that sharpen their economic development skills.
Activities include business sessions and networking events. Communities and
individuals showing exceptional economic development efforts will be recognized
with special awards including a best booth award and special achievement awards.
